Woodbridge (22192 or Lake Ridge) to Reston (Reston Town Center area) is about an hour typically (give or take 15 min. or as long as 1.5hr with an accident or other issue)?

Bottlenecks are at Old Bridge in Woodbridge?

Would it make sense to go west towards Manassas through Centreville and Chantilly?

If you take Rt. 28 from Manassas to Centreville--well, that can be pretty brutal.

My husband commuted from Lake Ridge to Reston for a while. His office was located on Sunrise Valley Drive. He took Rt 123 to FFX County Parkway and it averaged about 45 minutes when he left at 6:00am. It took about the same amount of time when leaving work at 4:00pm to come home. For this area, he considered it a very easy commute.

Agree with the post above. I don't know why but going through Manasas always seems to take longer than you plan. Going up Fairfax parkway is a predictable and unless there is a wreck near I66, it is predictable route.

Assuming that you're not too far west on old bridge road ( compared to Minneville and Old Bridge intersection), that beginning stretch is the most stressful part.

If the start of this trip begins near Ruby Tuesday or the government center, THEN we're talking about an extra15 min if it's during typical rush hour. Where if the start of this trip is Woodbridge high school, much less stressful. Taking the route down to 123/Ox and turning north towards the Fairfax parkway then wouldn't be that long.

Overall the trip from lake Ridge to Reston during typical rush hour is about an hour. The last stretch from I66, taking the back way to Reston, always seems to take longer. The Maps feature on a phone says the route is quicker up I95 and over to 495 and getting off on the Dulles toll road but never have taken that route during morning rush hour.

Thanks. It seems that Woodbridge is decent mix of commute time, housing price and decent schools.
