Craigslist for a condo or townhome. I doubt many managed apartments will allow three dogs and/or they will charge you a lot for them.

I don't understand why you'd have to stay there if you get a house...

Yeah, I was upset and posted gibberish. They said we cannot stay there if we have the dogs with us. So, I need to find housing for us and the dogs until we buy a house.

I second the recommendation for finding something on Craigslist or one of the other rental sites (can't think of the name right now that my daughter uses). Anyway, I know Craigslist scares some people but it is one the best ways in this area to find housing.

Have you tried Airbnb?
They often have medium term rentals (one to two month options).

I'm looking into dog boarding too. I contacted a place called Central Bark in Chantilly. They seem nice and professional.

Permanent boarding while you live in an apartment? WTH? Get a fourth dog----you may get a volume rate!

I'd also suggest looking on the military by owner. The listings are usually created by individuals that are not using a real estate agent.

I would also suggest that your in-laws post a wanted ad in their Next Door group. I'd seen owners of townhouses rent directly to tenants coming out of apartment complexes before they hit the market.

To maximize your use of Craiglist, post and respond to rental ads. Craigslist allows you to post an ad with your circumstance, criteria, and your story. I'd suggest adding a picture of your dogs to your ad.

Last but not least, have your agent create a post for their Facebook page and private real estate agent groups. Your agent may be able to find you a place that's been on the market for awhile with a landlord that's dying to get some rental income.

Good luck with your search. Let us know if you were able to find something in the area.
