I agree with 5stones about renting a TH. Nobody does them better than NOVA. We rented during our last tour there, somewhat relucantly. We ended up in 3000sqft. This time we only looked at TH's and ended up with a 3200sqft, two car garage for less than our BHA. This is in Kingstowne, which has so much to offer, from commuting to schools etc.

Good luck..

Shannon...NOVA bound and can't wait to get out out of the boondocks!

It always seems to be rush hour in Northern VA however your hours will make for a far more pleasant commute than others. If you chose to look south towards Fredericksburg for a home then be advised that I-95 is notoriously clogged for MANY hours of the day. I'm not sure what the 5:00 am drive is like up I-95 as I am still sound asleep at that hour but like most other area roads at that hour it should be fairly clear. However, I have friends that live in Dale City and I travel 95 semi often to visit them and of course for beach trips in the summer. Based on my experience I can assure you that traffic backups will exist at 2:00 in several areas, especially on Fridays. Although they won't be nearly as bad as the crawling chaos that reigns on that road after 4pm you can still expect to add some time onto your evening commute.
