What fraud? Not telling you that you can get it cheaper?

I went from a $20 co pay at CVS to $4.20 at Walmart for one RX. A new health plan forced me back to CVS, the last place I want to be.
But self checkout terminals will tell you that you don't actually have a cucumber on the scale, when you try and buy a papaya at the cucumber price. Looks like there are 18 lawsuits in motion on the prescription matter.

I think the point here (or at least my experience) is that if you walk into CVS and have cash, you get charged $7 for the drug. If you walked into that same CVS with your insurance, you would get hit with your $10 co-pay when, if the drug is less, you should only pay the $7.

I read a long time ago (in Consumer Reports I believe) - that you should always ask the pharmacist if it's cheaper to pay cash or use insurance. Just always ask.

And you can, nobody is forced to pay the insurance copay over the cash price. The decision is entirely up to the customer.

If your company has a terrible insurance plan it's well worth it to ask your pharmacy about alternatives to using your insurance. Again the copay pricing is set by the insuarnce company, usually as a result of the contract that your employer agrees to, not because the big bad pharmacy is out to rip people off.

^^^ Too true. Many people are prone to seeing things that don't actually exist.
