Trust me. I could not do that commute. Much less 25-30 plus years. When I spent 2.5 years going to Dunn Loring I would get there at 0400. Hated it. Living out in the valley and commuting to Front Royal is so much easier.

It really depends on why you'd want to live there, your job and how you use the commute. I routinely work 10-12 hour days. When I lived in Arlington I took Metro, it was an unusable 45 minutes each way average to and from work. I usually stayed at the office much later than I do now.

Now I leave the office around 6 but I work for an hour on the VRE morning and evening, with the same unusable 45 minutes for getting to and from the VRE station. 1-2 days a week I telecommute. And I get to live in a reasonable facsimile of the country. Works for me.
