We bought a house there and I can't wait to move (from San Diego, Ca.)!

Generally a question people ask BEFORE they buy a house, don't you think?

What if I responded with "it's the worst place ever, and I can't imagine anyone living there!"

I think old Clifton is cute little town.

Nice area. Do you live in the town part? My friend has a Clifton address but seems like he's really in Centreville.

Clifton as in the town or an outlying area? I think it's a beautiful area, especially in the fall, but traffic can be a real issue during rush hours. It's a very popular area to cut through for people wanting to avoid Rt. 28, I-66 and so on.

I did my research to the best of my ability. And I really want to get out of suburban sprawl.

Outlying area. Something my husband and I wanted for decades. My husband is currently living about 15 minutes away at my SIL house in Centreville. He's been commuting to either DC or Reston for his job. Says it's no big deal at all. Then again, we are used to Southern California traffic....

I hear you, and I am not saying you have made a bad choice (except for being outside of the sprawl). It is a really nice area; no issues.

My point was more about why you would ask people's opinion now? Presumably you can't change your decision; so why do you care what other people's opinions are? I would think, at this point, I would not want to know that random people hate where I chose to live.

I had business out in Nokesville a couple weeks ago, and it took me back to Fairfax City through Clifton around rush hour. I was flabbergasted by the level of traffic I was seeing going the other direction. It seemed clear to me that the two lane roads aren't cutting it for all the traffic attempting to pass through.

I agree that the downtown seems lovely though I've never stopped.

Clifton's roads are used as a shortcut between Springfield/Alexandria and Manassas. Its a much prettier drive than 66.

My last speeding ticket was for that exact reason so I hate Clifton. And its one of the only Republican precincts in all of Fairfax County.
