I would suggest the North Reston park area--it would be close to your work and the kids' school. It's also close to shopping, restaurant, errands, etc. and you could take advantage of the Reston amenities--trails, parks, pools.

For either location, I would recommend mapping and driving what you would expect to be your routine trips--not just to work, but to the grocery, errands, etc. to get a sense of how much time you will be in the car and whether it's doable for you.

This. If the OP hasn’t, read through the beginning if this thread, Living-happier-healthier-reston-after-leaving. All the schools in Fairfax County have the same curriculum but the demographics will be much different. Read through all the school’s profile for the schools where you are looking. Someone discounted the middle/high schools in Reston but not necessarily so, plus you have preschoolers and another move is possible too.
