We are considering a second home in Northern Virginia to spend more time near family.
We prefer to be within a 45 minute drive of Falls Church, in a townhome or condo, located within
a golf community, or adjacent to a public course with a park nearby. Realtor.com has not provided any search results. Budget under $500k. Active lifestyle communities for semi-retirement into retirement years are what we are interested in. All suggestions are appreciated.

Belmont Bay in Woodbridge comes to mind. villa style condos, apartment style condos, and 3 level garage townhomes

I'd second Belmont Bay as well. Very nice, quiet and upscale neighborhood.

Well, except that the golf club closed two years ago.

There are a couple options in the Haymarket/Gainesville area. Heritage Hunt and Dominion Valley. Maybe even Lake Manassas.

egg on my face then, I thought the closure just affected the clubhouse, not the ability to golf. That's a shame.

Heritage Hunt. It, living on a GC has many negatives. Golf season is too short in Nova, and rains in the Summer can do a lot of financial damage, as well as droughts. Do you want your HOA to be on the hook for four million gallons of water, per day? Lots of broken windows and trespassers after hours.
