Laser Quest is great - well supervised - actually took my mother-in-law their for her 57th birthday - obviously, focused towards kids and they seemed to be having a blast - we did!

It's probably a bit too young for an 8 year old's birthday party. But still worth a visit.
Explore & Moore might be closed now. My wife took our kids there a couple of weeks ago, and was told that the "museum" was closing indefinitely. It was starting to look rundown, and I know the air conditioner is/was broken. I think it changed ownership a couple of years ago, and the new owner hasn't maintained it well.
