Default Thrift/antique/collectible/flea market shopping

Anybody know of any great places to check out? I like looking around "stuff" and finding the perfect item. Used to go to Goodwills, a flea market in Winchester, etc. - Goodwill isn't what it used to be - the flea market changed in the last several yrs., now it's more commercial items that probably have been discontinued/old, whatever - we occasionally go to a flea market/antique shop in Hancock, it's hit or miss but that's what makes it fun.

Anybody know of any good places to check out and just have fun?

I like Art Deco, '50's style, comtemporary, etc.

Leesburg has some nice antique stores and there are a few in Lucketts (up north of Leesburg) that I enjoy browsing. There is also a big antique fair in Lucketts once a year but I can't recall the details.

It is the Luckett's fair and it is held in August (always hot!. They sell home made ice cream. Also, check out the fair in Bluemont, it is in September. There is also the sheep dog trials in May, at Oatlands. Often times, many of the local events have vendors who sell antiques and hand made crafts. There is an area south of Leesburg before you get to Oatlands where there are several antique shops that display local vendors collections.

Lots of places in Maryland.
Frederick, Savage Mill, Olney... venture across the border! You will be pleasantly surprised. Lots of nice things and the prices are more reasonable.

Thumbs up Many Excellent Flea Markets

There are many excellent flea markets in the Northern Virginia area. One recently opened in Aldie, Virginia, called the Aldie Antiques Market you can get more info at . This market is like the one that used to be in Leesburg a couple of years back. If you want to drive a little further out, you might want to try Parks Flea Market in Bealeton, you can get their info at . They are an indoor flea market with a large variety of merchandise and it's a scenic ride too.
