Default Carpet Installation

Hi. I just recently bought a townhouse in Springfield. I want to look into getting new carpeting installed in my rec room. I am not sure what options there are with other companies besides lowes or home depot or empire. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of companies they have used or if i am better off going with home depot or lowes. any help would be great.

When we finished our rec. room in 2005 we went with Lowes for the carpet. I just felt reassured that IF I had a problem, this was a large company to back up their satisfaction guarantee. Ask your neighbors though; their may be a mom and pop in the area. Personal recommendations are always best!

A few years ago I used Mill Direct Floor Coverings in Alexandria and was pleased with their prices and services for the carpet and installation. They were also able to do it very quickly.

On recommendations, I used Carpet Yard in Vienna (or maybe Mclean) as I wanted mroe personal service than I could get elsewhere. I worked with Randy there and was very satisfied.

Lowes seems to subcontract to the cheapest labor to do the installwork. Probably never heard of the CRI 105 standard for carpet installation. Googling for 20 seconds comes up with plenty of examples like Lowe's Carpet Installation Issues

I agree. Carpet is one of the few things NOT to get at Lowe's and HD.
