Moving back to the NoVA area after 10 years of living away. When I left in 2009, I commuted from Loudoun to Arlington fairly painlessly with a carpool buddy.

My carpool buddy has since moved on and I fear this commute is no longer painless.

Does anyone have experience with the Loudoun commuter bus; specifically from Brambleton to Rosslyn? It seems pretty easy if you're willing to shell out $20/day ($10 each way), which would be offset by the more affordable real estate in a rumored to be up-and-coming area.

Schools also weren't a factor 10 years ago and now they are. Any feedback on elementary schools in Brambleton would be greatly appreciated!

It really is going to depend on what method of transportation you are wanting to take. In a few years there will be two additional Silver Line stops in Eastern Loudoun close (ish) to Brambleton. Others can speak more direct but I have a number of co-workers who take the Loudoun Commuter Transit busses which do go to Rosslyn.

If you want to drive solo and take the Greenway, Toll Road to 66 it will be quite expensive- 66 inbound is free for carpoolers but now commands a toll in the morning for drivers- some days it has been 40 plus dollars for the 10 mile trip from the Beltway to Rosslyn. And that is not counting the Greenway and Toll Road tolls. That is in no way every day on 66 but the rates do get very high, in particular around 8 or 830. Route 7 has been expanded from Loudoun into Fairfax County and they are working on it into Tysons but it is still a pretty slow trip. You could also temporarily drive to Reston- Wiehle East station and catch the Silver Line but not sure what your appetite is for road to rail- it will be a long trip regardless. I think the bus will be your best (and cheapest) option unless you are carpooling.

Yes, I have experience with the Loudoun Commuter bus. If your work location is near the Rosslyn stop, it is an easy and pain-free ride.

Does your work not offer a commuter subsidy to offset the cost?
