This happens with every available in-stock Prime item. I change the ship-to address to eastern NoVA and - presto! - 2 day delivery.

I donít think itís a policy change. I think itís a staffing and logistics hiccup at the moment. They did lose a key warehouse to a tornado in Baltimore very recently, might have something to do with that and shifting outposts to accommodate.

Yes, the tornado is connected to delays across the mid-Atlantic. I wish they had emailed or put an alert instead of me having to search for the answer.

Funny enough, Amazon is looking for delivery hires in Sterling. But if the reason is the Baltimore warehouse, why do deliveries to McLean, Great Falls, Oakton, Springfield, etc. still get two days, but Ashburn, Reston, Sterling, Fairfax, Chantilly, etc. get 6-9 days?

By the way, something interesting. I found a small item listed as in stock. Ordered it to be sent to Springfield, and it was guaranteed to be there in two days. Also sent one to Chantilly, and it will be there between 6-9 days. The interesting part is that the first order seems to be shipping from near NoVA, but the second order shipped from California!

Something is screwy with Amazonís ordering system! For some reason, items destined for western part of NoVA is not being shipped from the same nearby warehouse as those intended for inner suburbs (the term is loosely used - Oakton gets 2 days).

Yes, those specific items arrived within 2 days.

I too have noticed some delays recently with a couple of my subscription items.

And technically, they offer free 2-day shipping - thatís just transit time once itís picked up. It can take them longer to process the order and get it out the door. The 2-days starts when itís picked up. Thatís what Iíve observed as Amazonís response to complaints.

At 9 days of estimated shipping time, thatís 7 days of processing before shipping. Thatís not Amazon. Thatís some mom and pop store with owners who canít use computers.

Again, whatís odd is Oakton getting 2 days and the neighborhoods to the immediate west getting 6-9 days. Are they served by different processing centers?

No, if it says 2 day shipping it's 2 day shipping. If you get a delivery date further out you should find out why, sometimes 3rd party sellers are part of prime but don't offer 2 day shipping. With two day shipping if I don't get my merchandise after 4 days I call them and they resend it for free and at times have told me not to bother returning the stuff that is late if and when it shows up.
