Hello,

We are considering a move to West Springfield so that our kids can eventually attend WSHS. We're looking for a nice townhome community in the mid to upper 400s that is safe with a great sense of community. We live in NOVA and our community lacks the warm neighborly feeling that we desire. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Are you looking for communities with 3 or 4 bedroom townhomes in your budget?

Either one. Preferably 4 but a 3 bedroom with a basement that can be used as a guest bedroom room works just as well.

I heard that Charlestown is nice but the HOA fee is $200+ per month. That's very pricey and I'm not sure that the extras that you get (lawn service, exterior maintenance, etc) are really worth it.

While the fee is higher than most, you'll likely be at around $100 a month for a community with a pool/trash/any type of common area to enjoy. Some folks appreciate the lawn care being taken care of, along with the exterior maint, especially when it relates to a roof or front porch repair/rear brick privacy wall.

I've had clients in the past specifically request this neighborhood for raising their kids in. they like how the houses are setback off the street in most cases, backyards 'fenced in', the school pyramid that services the neighborhood, access to the pool for swim team etc..

I will caution someone looking into the neighborhood to see if the current owner has any knowledge of the electrical line being serviced/replaced leading from the distribution box at the end of the row of houses. can be pricey if needed to be done.
