It has been a few years since I purchased my bet. What I did , however, was found the bed I liked in the store, and then called 1-800-mattress. They cross referenced the name in the store, to the name they had (as the posts above state, the stores have different "names" for the same matresses, so you can't compare), and they quoted me a good price on the mattress. I'm not necessarilyrecommending you buy from them, or claiming they will have the absolutely best deal (although I did buy and was very happy - particularly on a warranty claim I made), but it is an easy way to determine what a fair price is for your bed - as long as they haven't changed that practice in the last few years.

I bought a Queen-sized Pillowtop Simmon Beautyrest in Alexandria about a year ago and paid $1100 for it. There's a strip of Mattress stores off Duke Street and I just went to each one of them until I got the best price.

Phew....I WAS able to cancel the order. I was super surprised how easy it was. The guy was very nice and had actually fixed it before I got there (I had called earlier). So now I'm back on the hunt for a mattress and I WILL be doing my research this time...LOL

For the people who bought at Costco or online, how did you know you would like it?? I have to try out the mattresses first. For the Costco folks, were you able to do that or kind of "hope" you will like it?? Thanks for all the help guys!

We havent yet bought from Costco but plan to do so this week. We went to a couple of mattress stores and found that we liked the Sealy Posturepedic one the best. Now I know that even within that brand there are a few different beds, but I honestly didn't see much difference between them. All of them felt firm and great to lie on. Since Costco offers the Sealy Posturepedic mattress at $900 (King size), I think we will like it.

Smile Buy Mattress - Northern VA (Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, Manassas)

I just bought one last night, and now I'm thinking I might have done it a little quick. I didn't go for top of the line, but mid I guess. I got a queen Simmons Beautyrest pillowtop set for $1899+tax and delivery and that was on sale. I've been looking online and seen the same bed cheaper. Is it just our area?? Or does it sound like a ripoff? The bed I really wanted was over $3000 for the set, so I'm hoping the price is good. They have a 60 day price guarantee, so if I can find it cheaper they will "supposedly" match the competitors price and give me a refund. So what do you all think?
Mattress Northern VA (Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, Manassas)

For a Beautyrest World Class pillowtop, that would be a decent price. The normal mattress tag prices in this Northern Virginia area for that product are typically $300 more than that.

Enjoy your comfort,
