Ballston/Clarendon apartments
I was wondering if anyone could recommend any apartments in these areas. I'm looking to spend 1,500-1,800 for a 1 bedroom.

I live in Dorchester Towers in South Arlington which is only a 10 minute drive from Clarendon/Ballston with bad traffic. It is near the Pentagon, has a beautiful garden on the roof and is within walking distance from a lot of shops. I am paying around $1200 for a 1 bedroom, and that includes all utilities.

Just a suggestion that you might also want to consider renting a condo from owner in these areas. You are likely to find well maintained units in nice buildings for less than the going rate in apartment complexes.

I just looked at a bunch of properties managed by Dittmar in that area in that price range. All of these are in easy walking distance of Courthouse, Clarendon, Virginia Square, or Ballston Metro stations. I seriously considered all of them, and did end up settling on one: Courtland Park, Courtland Towers, Virginia Square Plaza, Quincy Plaza, Randolph Towers, Richmond Square. Most of those include utilities and have underground parking. The Gallery at Virginia Square, owned by a different company, was also very nice, but pricey. The rents vary with the market though, and can change from week to week.

Hester I agree, I am with one of the apartments above as well and I really love it here, can't think of renting anyplace else.

I rented a large studio condo from the owner in Ballston area for years. The rent is very low. You can probably find a better deal renting a condo directly from the owner than renting from an apartment complex.

Hi -- How old is Dorchester Towers? How safe is the neighborhood? Is there garage parking? And most importantly, is the washer/dryer in each unit?
Thank you.

Park Adams off, North Adams Street in Arlington.
walking distance to Courthouse metro and in your price range.
utilities are extra.
also, metro bus to DC and Rosslyn, and 3 lights to Georgetown.
why look anywhere else?

Because the place is absolutely infested with roaches. I had friends who moved out of that place for that reason. I would advise looking elsewhere.

I lived there for years, never had any issues.
New management did a good job taking care of them.
