Just looking to see if anyone has added an egress window or door to a basement, specifically in Loudoun County. If so, what was the process like, and how much did it cost? There's a small window down there already, but we'd like to make it larger. Thanks.

I've had clients that have paid $5,000 - $7,000.

Recommend you call your county first and ask if it's required any of their authorization before conducting the work. Usually extending/enlarging existing windows shouldn't but wouldn't hurt to check. Have you tried homeadvisor to get an idea? It should cost less than $2,500 to extend or making it larger.

Also depends on your exterior wall construction and interior wall, ceiling and flooring. For example, brick vs vinyl siding makes a big difference. Without details, I don't see a $5000 to $7000 cost by a previous post unless its a high end property match etc.. Especially for a larger window in vinyl siding +- $2000. Hard to place a cost on this without more details.
