I'm taking a job in Old Town and my fiance is thinking about taking a job in Bowie, where his company will be picking up the tab for housing.
By rail , how ridiculous is the commute from Bowie to Alexandria? I know i'd have to take the Marc train and then the Metro to King Street, but is this the type of commute that 'normal' people would willingly make?? Or should I just suck it up and find a room to rent in Alexandria...help! Suggestions, reccomendations, anything!

Unless you drive the Beltway across the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, it already sounds like you've found the least stressful solution. Ninety-minute commutes - which I would guess yours to be - are not uncommon around here. If you like to read, listen to music or get menial work tasks done, riding the (MARC) train can be a productive experience.
