Ok so there's this local restaurant that advertises on Comcast cable channels here in Alexandria (and Arlington) and it looks good -- like a nice mom and pop American food joint.

I keep thinking the name is Callahan's, and of course, now that I want to find it, the advertisement won't come back on the TV.

So can anyone help out? Searching google for it hasn't worked well, so I'm wondering if that's even the name now.

The commercial is clearly a local production, you know, kind of cheesy.

Just a guess....I've seen tv commercials for a joint called Calabash.

Never been there....don't know a thing about it.

Calabash is right on Route 1 across from a trifecta of gas stations. My lady and I have been there a couple times and always enjoyed the food. The staff is very friendly as I imagine they're working hard to get business. They have karaoke and live acts on many nights. The only thing I didn't like is that on one Friday afternoon just after work, we could smell the distinct scent of cigarettes yet hardly anyone was there yet. So their ventilation system could use some work. Other than that, I'd highly recommend Calabash; it's a good thing for the neighborhood.

Oh, and I believe Callahan's is on the waterfront in Old Town Alexandria. I was there a few weeks ago. They're pretty good too!

Thanks Tone509.

We had fallen into a rotation of Don Pablo's, Phillips, Asia Cafe, Capital City Brewery and Red Hot and Blue.

We're looking to add to the rotation.

BBQ on Richmond Hwy (Rt 1) in Alexandria? Makes me nostalgic for the Dixie Pig...
