Splittin' Up Sterling
Note: This is a continuation of a side discussion started in the Sterling/Potomac Falls Thread.
OK, just for grins and giggles let's ponder the idea of splitting up Sterling.
How should it be done? How many pieces would you cut the pie into?
And... what names should the new communities have?
Traditional suggestions include:
1. Split into two parts, Sterling (South of 7) and Potomac Falls (North of 7).
2. Split into six parts (Broad Run Farms, Countryside, Dulles, Cascades, Sterling Park, and Sugarland Run.)
3. Split into five parts (same as above, but Countryside and Cascades are combined and called Potomac Falls).
But you know what--we're a creative bunch! What do you suggest?

I like this one.
It's funny when people ask us where we're looking to buy a house. We always say Sterling and when we get that weird look (about a nanosecond later), we have to say NOT Sterling Park. Someone mentioned Palo Alto and East Palo Alto in a different thread, it's like 7 works the same way 101 does in CA, east side is East Palo Alto (stay away from there!) and west side is oh-so-wonderful-and-pretty-and-expensive Palo Alto.
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Sterling Park. Only been there twice and it was actually a nice change for scenery, there is only so much vinyl siding and McMansions a person can take.

I really meant that tongue in cheek. We moved here seven months ago and rented a townhome in Sterling Park. Having lived there, just talking to people, and reading posts on this site we came to the conclusion that SP just was not a place we wanted to buy. And, that's too bad because SP does have a few cute litlte areas but the bordering neighborhoods can be atrocious and the area as a whole does suffer from a bad reputation whether it is deserved or not. Sometimes perception is reality.

Hmmmm, we need a tie breaker--all the viable candidates have two votes!

Potomac Falls is the winner!
It wasn't my choice, but I must admit I like Potomac Falls. It's good to have names that focus on nature.
(OK, ok, the falls go over a manmade spillway on Sugarland Run. But it's mostly a natural area... )
