Question Vienna Metro Parking

Do the parking garages fill to capacity by mid morning?

I want to park at the Vienna Metro station and take the Metro into the District. Can I when I need to mid morning - mid afternoon? Yes, during the week.

I have been during the weekend and there is usually plenty of parking and at no cost. But, I am relatively new here in NOVA and haven't ventured to the Metro during the business week.

Any advice is welcome. Thanks!!

I used to live near the Vienna station, and it does fill up on many weekday mornings. Since this is the last stop out into Virginia on the orange line, the thousands of people that drive from farther out to catch the metro into DC all park at Vienna.

If you come in late-morning, I would plan to leave some "buffer time" into your commute. Some afternoons there are cars lined up there waiting for others to leave the lot.

Is there a metrobus or other transportation that you can take to Vienna metro? That might be a great alternative.

Can anyone explain the huge parking lot that is blocked off at the south end of the Vienna station by the parking garage? Was ticked off to see it not being used after i had to drive all the way up to the top of the garage and circle around a couple of times to get a spot.

The Vienna parking garages usually fill up by 8:15am or so. That said, there is a decent amount of "special" parking which is reserved until 10am for those who pay an additional fee (something like $50/mo?) to use those spots. After 10am, though, they're open to the general public. If by mid-morning you mean 10am or later, you should be able to find parking at the Vienna Metro without too much hand wringing. If it's after 8:15am and before 10am, you'll have issues.

If it's before 10am, you might look into a connector bus to get you to Vienna Metro, instead of driving? (I know it'd be cheaper!) I could probably give you a link for the best one if I knew where you were coming from.

Thanks so much for all the info.

I did nose around and found a bus that I could take from FairOaks Mall to Vienna Metro. I think that will do the trick.

Thanks again.

This is the idea solution as it also saves you money, and eases traffic.

I just looked up the VRE. As a newcomer, who knew?

The VRE is quite a distance from where I live. I live in southern Loudoun Cty near South Riding.

Thanks to all for their help. I have so much to learn!!
