Default If you wanted to live close to a metro station which line is best? Orange, Blue, Yellow?

Say I wanted to rent close to a Metro station.

Taking the following into consideration.

Cost of rent ($1400 max for a 1 bedroom)
professional attractive neighborhood.
Safe neighborhood.
shops, grocery, and restaurants near by.
Which Metro line would you concentrate on
Orange
Yellow
Blue

And if anyone wants to comment on which stations are best to live near that would be great.

also if anyone wants to give a plug for a specific apartment or condo complex that’s great as well.

things we are looking for are pet friendly, Woof and Meow.
Dedicated parking.
Workout and pool would be nice.

thanks in advance.

P.S. Already checked out commute times and any station on any of these metro lines is within my commute tolerance.

P.P.S. I have never been to the DC area. so all I’m doing so far is looking at maps and reading.

It depends on where in DC you work. Naturally if you don't have to do a transfer it will be more convenient. Also if you get on at the end of a line you'll have a better chance of getting a seat.

From what I read in the newspapers, the Blue Line in Virginia seems to be less congested and somewhat more reliable than the Orange Line. You might want to check out the Manchester Lakes development (zip code 22310), which would be just a few minutes from the Franconia-Springfield station (which is the end of the line so you would get a seat and also it has a 5000+ space parking garage). Manchester Lakes has some nice amenities and has rentals within your price range. Kingstowne nearby is very nice too but I'm not sure there are any one-bedroom units so you would have to pay more for a larger unit (but may be worth looking at). I'm sure others will have suggestions about other areas but this is what I'm familiar with.

I'd say blue and/or yellow. Orange seems to be a mess in the morning, and is much more crowded. As for whether blue or yellow, depends on what you find and where you're working.

Arlington:

Courthouse, Clarendon, Virginia Square, and Rosslyn.

easy drive to downtown DC, metro and bus line to downtown.

I have lived there for years and enjoyed the area very much.

And it has all the things you requested within easy walking distance too.

I think the blue line is one i would pick. The blue line is more affordable (espically the Van Dorn St. stop) and backups on that line are rare.
