Moving to Northern Virginia, apartment suggestions? (Alexandria: apartment complexes, to rent, violent crime)

I am relocating to Northern Virginia to work for the Patent and Trademark office. I want to find an apartment to rent. Does anyone knows of any good apartment complexes in the area for under $1200

1. Studio/1Br (one person)

2. Safe neighborhood

3. No more than a 1 hour commute to work (The patent office is in Alexandria)

4. Not far away from a metro station (but I have a car as a backup)

You may want to look along Duke St. in Alexandria. Most of the rents are really reasonable (under $1200 for a 1 bed) and you can take the Dash At8 or 29 Metro bus down to the PTO area (20 or 30 min at worse). Duke St is pretty safe and violent crime is extremely rare.
