I commutte from Lake Ridge zip code 22192 every single day which is exit 160 to Old town Alexandria during rush hour. Lake Ridge is further south from Lorton and it takes me 35 minutes to one hour during rush hour. I take I-95 north to 495 (Baltimore side) and I reach my office within 35 minutes to one hour... Also, I am not a fast driver and stay in the slow lanes for most of my ride. Not a bad commutte at all for this high traffic area. With a commutte from Lorton, if you are close to I-95, you should not have too bad of a commutte.

My sister lives in Lorton and she said that her biggest drawback is actually getting onto I-95 from where she lives in Lorton. There are also back roads you can take if you want to avoid I-95, such as Telegraph Road, however, you will have to deal with many, many lights. Maybe someone else in this forum can give you other options.

I left the office today at 5:10 pm and reached exit 160 in Lake Ridge at 5:55 pm.
Good Luck!

Rush hour would probably be thirty minutes to one hour, close to what MovefromFla said. Non-rush hour times would probably be about 20 - 25 minutes. However, it all depends on what area of Lorton you live in, as it can take you an extra 5 to 15 minutes to reach 95 from backroads.
