We are a Christian Family of four that are moving to VA / DC / MD area, because I have been moved from my job to Fairfax, VA. We are looking for a used or new single family home to live. The place that we are looking for is a secure place (Safety-security), with a christian comunity & school near by, 1 or 1.5hr away from Fairfax. What places do you recommend?.

Specific Information:
- We are looking for a single family home with 3+ bedrooms and a basemanet.
- We are willing to pay from 250K to 350K.
- I do not care if the commute is 1.5hr to my work.
- My kids are: 7 & 10 years of age.
- We are looking for a christian school. Do you recommend it instead of a public school?.
- We are looking for a very secure and safety place to live, where by family can go any place with no worry.

I think you have many options and deciding where to live will depend on your housing budget, your commute to your workplace and what is important for your family (e.g., schools, safety, amenities, etc.). There are many active, Christian churches in Fairfax County. Once you find one that you want to join, you'll be able to participate in many of their ministries and activities with your family. Take a look at properties and churches in Burke (22015), West Springfield (22152) and Fairfax (22032). These areas may meet your criteria.

350K might get you a small home, not sure its gonna be enough for a family of 4.
Townhouse might be a different story.

1.5 to Fairfax puts you at like....Front Royal

350 could be enough, but its going to be a smaller house.

I would say at least 400+

Other nice places? I mean if you want to go a bit north, there is Leesburg. I like its old town.

There are a lot of nice places in NoVA. Just depends on how much you can afford I guess.

The only christian school that i know of is the word of life AG church and school in Springfield. That will be a doozy from Fairfax. 350k probably wont buy you anything desirable (realting to SFHs) in that area.

God Bless

Thank you,
There are some SFHs in the areas I listed within your budget, but I don't know what their conditions are. You might want to consider areas further away from the city to get more housing for your money (although you need to balance that with your commuting time, which can be awful here).

As far as your school question, Fairfax County public schools are among the best in the U.S., but I can empathize with your desire to offer your children a Christian education. At least, that's what we are planning for our child. There was recently a thread on a similar topic NOVA Private Schools , which you might want to read. GL!
