I may be moving to the Arlington area for a new job. I've read many posts here, and some were relevant to my situation. However, I couldn't find information about two issues I'm concerned about.

I am a 55 year old single man. I don't want to live in an apartment building with a lot of noisy children running around, nor do I want to live in an apartment building with a lot of partying adults. Do certain managed apartments or locations have a reputation for either. For example, Dittmar's Dolley Madison Towers would seem to have a lot of children and Dittmar's Courtland Towers a lot of yuppies.

And then there are the barking dogs...

At certain price points, noisy children and/or partying adults generally cease to be an issue. If you'd rather not or cannot afford to rent at such price points, another option would be a building limited to persons age 55 and over.
Barking dogs are a separate issue....

There is a condo in Ballston called Tower Villa where I noticed most of the residents were much older than typical places in Arlington. I believe this is due to the age of the building, though it's in excellent shape, as many of the residents likely bought a long time ago and never moved. I'm not sure if there are any rentals available.

If you don't mind moving to DC the area up along Connecticut Ave by Cleveland Park and Van Ness also caters to an older crowd more.
