Moving to NOVA from San Diego
My husband just got transfered to 8th & I with the Marine Corps. and we are having a hell of a time finding a decent place to live. I really don't want to live in a hotel while we look around so I went on craigslist and found a place in North Springfield. I've heard mixed reviews about the town. Does anyone know anything about the area? We have a small child and are trying to look for a safe environment. We heard there is a huge problem with illegal aliens there. We've been there, done that here is SoCal, and are all set having them run through are back yard like they do here!
Can anyone tell me anything about the area around:
5414 Easton Drive at Chatham
the link to the craigslist add is:
All-Brick Home Beautifully Updated, 4 BR 2 FB, Available June 1 (broken link)
Or does anyone have any better ideas of where to live. I would totally stay in a hotel until I found a place, if it means my child will be "safer." We are looking to spend around 2K for a townhouse or SFH.
Thanks in advance for any advice!!

Hello GoRedSox.
We are also in San Diego and are transferring to No VA. You can stay at Ft. Belvoir (Army Lodge) or Bethesda (Navy Lodge) if you cannot find a temporary house. PCS orders have priority. Ft. Belvoir has a thirty day max.
We are in the same boat so I feel your pain! Good Luck!

Will your husband be in DC or at Quantico? Where he'll work will have a huge impact on my recommendations...

Oh my God I love SD and kinda bummed to be leaving...though Im from New England so glad to be back on the East Coast. We need either a townhouse or SFH because we have too much "stuff" and need the storage space.
Also, to Daisyduff, my husband will be working at 8th & I, which is downtown DC. We tried to live close, but far enough out of the city to not deal with all the crap of city living.
