Not necessarily, becasue itt depends on where you live, because in my neighborhood there are no Jones, there's all Indian and Vietnamese. So it's like keeping up with the Phams and Shakihs. And those foreigners are not impulse shoppers and dont drive SUV's.

I don't understand your comment. I judge people by what kind of person they are - I could give a fig about what kind of car you drive, whether you wear the latest designer clothes, etc. Personally, I think cars are totally overpriced: I'm of the mindset that you get a car for the best price you can and drive it into the ground, as long as you get where you need to go, the car is good.

Angry well..

You could say that but when you're a native Virginian and all you see is residents moving in from Maryland, and New Jersey and over populating your home you would be snobby too. I see more MD, and NJ License plates nowa days than I do Virginia.

This area is becoming to overcrowded too quicklly.

There are illegals from el-salvador and hondoras everywhere. When you have been putting up with that for multiple years it gets to you.

The majority of people I met in Northern Virginia weren't exactly "friendly", but they aren't downright snobby. Some are, but what metro area doesn't have snobby people?

I got used to it. I was friends with my neighbors, that was about it. As long as you aren't expecting small-town life and small-town people, you'll be fine. New Jersey and the tri-state/NYC area is much, much worse.

My first answer is "yes" I think the area is kind of snobby. A lot of people refer to the "Georgetown party crowd" as the intellectual elite crowd - who you know, where you went to school, where you work, where you live, etc., etc. In the suburbs, I was finding a lot of "moms with Burberry bags" [I had one but I carried it around for so long it was falling apart]. I was finding the area quite materialistic and I never found the people truly "effusive". There's a lot of posturing, playing it cool, rather than enthusiastic warmness. But I'm still a fan of the area - I think of Northern Virginia as beautiful, dynamic, thriving.

Bless you - my 10 year old Toyota is sort of vibrating at red lights, but I bought it with cash and will drive it until it stops altogether. [It does have sunroof and high-end seating - it's the luxury edition, although no spring chicken].

LOL, I had my Toyota for 20 yrs. (sunroof also) - it was the Luxury or Special at the time... that car was a trooper though. Still ran when we donated it. Probably should have put a couple bucks into in and we'd still have it. I had an old Nova forever also, also (in those days) a car that was built to last.

I can relate to your attitude about keeping vehicles. My last car was 12 years old and still running but the a/c went out on it, and it was more expensive then the car to replace. I have a 4 year old Toyota and it runs like a champ. Do all the oil changes myself, brakes, belts, all fluids. I plan on running that car into the ground.
