It's only been in Bethesda for a whole six or eight months- Who cares whether the news station is in DC, Maryland or Virginia? It's all local metro area news and they report on the same things. I watch a combo of FOX5 (Fox being probably my favorite with the 10 pm newscast- I'm getting old), ABC7 and NBC4- you can literally switch back and forth and hear the same stories.

In that case, I like FOX5 a whole lot better now than six or eight months ago.

Years ago I watched News 4 with Jim Vance and Doreen Gentzler. I also liked Bob Ryan, George Michael, and the morning crew (Joe Krebs and Barbara Harrison). I stopped tuning in regularly about 10 years ago -- primarily because I changed habits in how I consume the local news and how I watch television. Today I actually tune into WTOP. It's quick and easy to get the local headlines when I'm either in the car or when I'm at home working. I also don't have the time anymore to sit down and watch a 30-minute broadcast with all of the commercials.

When I lived in Virginia, that was the legacy anchor team at NBC flagship WRC-News 4 back in the day. Good strong anchors, nice personalities and good chemistry, and solid news reporting. They also had an entertainment reporter Arch Campbell. Always a good broadcast. Back then, FOX-5 and WJLA-7 were gaining ground, and the other legacy stalwart WUSA-9 was on its last legs as a dominant station of record, just before Gannett took over and began eliminating the top talent and quality reporting.
