Default Dead Deer Removal

Hello all--This is a wierd post,, Does anyone know who I can call to get a dead deer cleaned up off the side of the road. On my route to work for the past week I have seen this poor dead deer on the side of the road in Mclean..Isn't there some state agency I can call to have them remove it,, I feel sorry for the poor thing,,, It seems like the people that live on the street are just content on leaving it there to rot. HELP!

Hmm... I tried looking that up on VDOT, and saw nothing. I bet if you contact your local animal control, they'd know.

They don't remove them where I live. They just move them to the side of the road and leave them there.

A while back, we called VDOT about a dead deer in the next neighborhood. It was on the sidewalk. They said if it's not actually in the road they won't do anything about it.

The State Highway Department is responsible for carcass removal from state rights-of-way. The number is 703-273-0660. If it turns out not to be a state road, they can probably tell you which jurisdiction to call instead...

Call your county supervisor and they should contact whoever is responsible.

Seen a lot of them left out in Loudoun County. Yes it's sad to see them just lay there being eaten but thats nature. Also serves as a good reminder of what overdevelopment can do (lots of dead deer around new developments when their habitat is destroyed by new housing).

Roads are to deer what railroad crossings are to people. Except we do tend to clean up the people when they get hit by a train.

Man... I just saw a Deer get hit and killed about 20 minutes ago. I was hoping that a google search would show me a place that picked them up and fed them to homless folks or something. What a sad thing to see but even sadder that its just a waste.
