Hi I am moving to Arlington from out of state, and I don't know the area too well. I was wondering if someone could help me out a little. I am looking or a 1BR within walking distance of a metro, that allows dogs. I don't want to spend much more than 1500/month, and it seems like what I have been finding online are huge complexes that seem to monopolize the area. I am just looking for somewhere safe and convenient. Any suggestions of apartment building to look at? Also, I read on another thread that renting from condo owners is cheaper, how do you find them? Thanks!!

To find condo owners renting their apartments, try craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums

Craig's list is probably the best place to find them. You can also check the Washington Post online (look under apartments as well as condos for rent since some owners don't necessarily advertise under the condo section). A third option, although it may have THs and SFHs rather than condos, is militarybyowner.com (check by zip code or you can input Ft. Myer or the Pentagon). Good luck!

Some of the Avalon apartments allow dogs. Also consider using apartmentshowcase.com to help search for apartments that allow pets.

Good luck!

homesdatabase.com is also a good place to look.

What you'll need to check is the weight limit for dogs.

I've lived in five different NOVA apartment complexes. If you have a big dog your choices will be much more limited. They also have some breed restrictions, the obvious and some not-so obvious.
