Default Fairfax city area condo

I am considering taking a long-term but temporary job that's located in Fairfax city. I will be keeping my house in the Philly area in case job ends prematurely, it houses family and is almost paid off. So I am looking to buy a condo somewhere between Leesburg and Dumfries that is under $300K and will appreciate in value over next 3-5 years. Where do you think the best investments are?

I will be flying out of Dulles alot, but have flexibility in my schedule so I'm not that worried about the commute.

I would suggest the area near the Fairfax Government Center. It is very nice and well kept and you would be close to everything (Mall, restaurants, Fairfax Corner, grocery stores, Fairfax city, I-66 and the metro). Condo prices are a little higher due to location but I assume the range you are targeting would be ok if a one bedroom is all you need.

I also would suggest Fairfax. Fair Lakes area is very good. There are relatively new condos. built by the Whole Foods in Fair Lakes that might fit the bill. Then there are older ones that are still very nice that are selling right now for about $250,000 range for 2 bedroom/2 bath - Stonecroft.

One of the newest condo developments is available in Fair Lakes. They are really nice. Elan Condos. We just had a client buy in there and we helped save them 19k He paid around 265k for a 1bedroom 1 bath

It is within walking distance to a whole foods and many other shops.
