Default "Best" commute from West Springfield to Tysons

We finally decided on renting a house in West Springfield (Orange Hunt Elem area). My husband may have to work in McLean/Tysons area at least part of the time. What would be the best way for him to commute? Our house is just off the FFX pkwy. Would 495 up to tysons be ok? (Depending on hours?) or can anyone recommend a better way to go?
Thanks so much!!

Some days it will be okay, some days it won't be so okay. But traffic tends to ease some in the summer, so the beloved Inner Loop is probably worth a shot to see how it usually is when you usually need to go. If you can figure a route to get on the Beltway at Braddock Road instead of Springfield, that would be a good idea. You'll also need to get into Tysons somehow. Assuming that the job is west of the Beltway, I'd suggest using the 123-South exit, being careful as you may have to merge through a decent amount of traffic getting onto the Beltway coming off of 123-North. 123-South is against the dominant flow, so you shouldn't face any issues there until you hit the traffic in Tysons itself...
