Congrats! you will really like Leesburg.

Downtown has first fridays on the 1st friday of every month during the summer, shopes stay open etc... a good intro into your new city.
Also the bluemont summer concert series has out door concerts on the courthouse lawn on sunday evenings.

Check out the on line versions of both the local papers for news and happenings...
The Leesburg Today Leesburg Today - The Journal of Loudoun County
Loudoun times... Home Loudoun Times

There is a Halloween Parade that your kids might enjoy (my teen went with friends and had fun) the younger 2 prefered to Trick or treat door to door.

There is also a Christmas Parade and First night activites downtown on New years.

The Tally HO theater runs current movies and is a fun family atmosphere (a good place for teens to start the solo movie going)

The Leesburg Resturant (downtown) is a MUST for old fashion shakes and malts and good burgers!

PM me if you have any questions etc... It really is a GREAT family town...on the edge of the sprawl but still has a small town feel.

There are a ton of properties everywhere. Check out Online Real Estate - Homes for Sale and Experienced Real Estate Agents | Redfin
It shows placed for sale on a map so that you can tell where they are of you are new to the area. You might consider renting for awhile. Take some time and see the area and wait for the housing prices to stop dropping. You can find listings for places to rent at craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums
