Hi there - we're moving to Reston/Herndon area from 'across the river' in Maryland because we both work in Reston/Herndon and are sick of the commute. Reston is still a bit pricey, so we centered more on Herndon, which appears to have some nice housing communities too and good schools. Problem is there are sooooo many different housing developments in Herndon. I can't keep them straight. We have a young son, so an excellent elementary school is key, and we'd like to find a community with nice amenities, like a reasonably priced community pool. We've done some hunting, and we think that Fox Mill Estates (Fox Mill ES), Emerald Chase (Floris ES) and Kingston Chase (Clearview ES) are quite nice so far. But Emerald Chase doesn't appear to have a pool, and the houses in Kingston Chase are a bit small and close together (from what I've seen so far). Is there any other development we should be looking at? We're targeting single family homes up to about $540K. Many thanks.

There are some nice houses in south Reston in your price range and most are included in Reston Association (RA) which has great swimming pools included in the annual RA fee. I did a search (LongandFoster.com) and found the following houses on the market which may be of interest to you.

FX6746557 - 2510 Pegasus $540K
FX6482097 - 11306 Myrtle $530K
FX6770662 - 12374 San Jose $530K
FX6756421 - 11704 Riders $525 (Not in RA)
FX6750071 - 10712 Oldfield $490K (Great School!)

Good luck with your search.

The public version of the area MLS can be reached at HomesDatabase. You can search by zip code, just put in your parameters and it will find you what is available. Most of the listings will have addresses so you can check out the neighborhood before commiting yourself to a Realtor.
