After an earlier post, my moving situation has become a little clearer. I will be moving from NC to NoVA and will be working near the north end of Ft. Belvoir. I only need to be there a little over a year, so this is a short-term issue.

I need advice on a comfortable area to live with amenities nearby (wife doesn't drive). I do have a 3 yr old, but schools wont be an issue as we'll relocate before he enters elementary school. I would like to stay below $1800.

So our interests are:
Amenities that are walkable or an easy bus ride
Commute time
Parks for our child

My preference is a townhouse and not an apartment.
