Default VRE Commute: From Piedmont Gainesville to Brisow/Manassas VRE

How is the commute from Piedmont (catharpin Road) to Bristow/Manassas VRE. Is it as bad as I66? Google maps says it 10m approx. How long does it take to drive?

Planning to buy a SFH soon and I work in Alexandria,VA. Daily commute to work will be primarily via VRE.

Thanks

Oh boy, longer than 10 minutes. Then you have to factor in finding a parking space and then walking to the station. I'm thinking it could be more like 20 - 30 mins from your door to being on the train.

She's right 20-30 minutes, I do that commute daily.
The best way to get to the VRE station from Carharpin Road is take 55 thru the town of Haymarket and get on 66, get off at 234/PWC Bypass. Take 28 North and right on Godwin Drive.

Parking at the station is a B__CH but depends on when you get there, 10 minutes to walk from your car to the train.

Thanks, It doesn't really make sense for me to buy house in Piedmont then.

30 Minutes to VRE + 45 Minutes to Alexandria will suck.

Try going to Bristow or places near Manassas

Keep in mind that the VRE is currently looking at extending the Manassas line to Gainesville/Haymarket. The study is going to be completed this spring. We are building a stacked townhouse in Village Place, so we're right next to 29. I work in DC so my commute is going to be a little longer. This will become a little problematic when VDOT beings the construction on 66/29/Linton Hall construction but I'm sure I'll survive.
