Here are two lawn and landscaping services in Chantilly that have been highly rated for overalll quality by their customers per Checkbook Magazine...

Clippers...703-378-9300
Peter's Landscape...703-327-2845

...plus a few nearby places that have similar ratings...

Howard Landscapes...Sterling...703-359-8058
Keller Lawn Services...Centreville...703-968-6907
Pro-Mow...Sterling...703-996-0700
Turfscapes...Catlett...703-753-9411

Prices may very considerably. Work up the basic program you want, then explain that to three or four guys when they come over to give you their free estimate. Things should be fairly simple from there...someone is almost certain to stand out in terms of price and professionalism. Go with that guy...

I recently witnessed an incident where the owner of Peter's Landscape was what I considered rude and unprofessional in handling a ligitimate concern from a homeowner. This situation involved the homeowner being upset, fearful and rightfully concerned about him starting to grind tree stumps beside her home without getting approval/markings from the gas utility company to ensure no gas lines were near the stumps. In my opinion, because a potential safety issue was at hand here, he certainly could have been understanding and not have shown an attitude towards the homeowner when questioned. He had not contacted the gas company before beginning grinding the stumps. I am also a subscriber of "Checkbook Magazine" online and made an input on the "neighbor-to-neighbor" section commenting on this incident.

That is shocking. What kind of idiot would grind stumps with out checking with the utility company?

The excuse he gave was that he wasn't grinding the stumps down very far, therefore there was no reason to worry about hitting a gas line! My son owns a landscaping/design company in MD and he said he would "NEVER" grind a stump near a residence under any circumstance without getting proper approval from the utility company. Safety always comes first! After this incident occurred and the homeowner wasn't backing down on insisting that he contact "Miss Utility", a HOA board member showed up to the rescue and told him to cease grinding. To date the stumps have not been removed. Oh well, at least the homeowners now have piece of mind that the neighborhood houses aren't going to be blown up!
