Default Fluctuations in rent depending on season?

Hi,
I have lived in Alexandria for a little over a year and was looking to move to the Ballston/Clarendon area. I was curious if anyone knew whether the normal rental prices fluctuate depending on what time of the year it is? For example, all of the leasing offices are currently saying they are in their busy season so prices are at their peak. Will prices drop when the fall or winter come around? If so does anyone know what kind of changes can be expected? If anyone has any experience or information about this please let me know.
Thank you.

Summertime is definitely the busiest rental time, as people with kids tend to prefer to move in the summer so they don't have to disrupt the schooling. So I definitely think it's possible for rates to be higher now (supply and demand) and for them to drop prices or offer incentives in the fall/ winter. Check back with the places you're looking at after schools start. This is just my guess...

Dead of winter is definitely the cheapest time. Most places jack up their prices in spring (anticipating new graduates), and then again in summer (most popular time to move). It cools off in Fall, and cools off even more in Winter when places start to get a little more desperate.
