I want my daughter to go to Fairfax county school Annandale High school in Fairfax County. She has gone to Fairfax county schools for years, I know the schools are VERY good. But, we may be moving to Alexandria City....her school will be TC Williams High School. I don't know anything about Alexandria City schools, but my daughter is really focused on her school work & cheerleading...I don't want anything to affect that. Do you think I could put her in Fairfax county school if we live in Alexandria City? There's got to be a way.

From the FCPS website:

"If families move out of Fairfax County, children are no longer eligible to attend Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) and will be withdrawn."

I believe there was a question on this a while ago. Can't you pay the cost of tuition to send your student to FFX county if you wanted to?

Unless she moves in with family in Fairfax County, no. From an '06 graduate there really isn't much difference between TC and Annandale.

There are some exceptions that allow certain students whose parents are not Fairfax County residents to attend Fairfax County schools and pay tuition. You can find the policy here:

http://www.boarddocs.com/vsba/fairfax/Board.nsf/12e695cdb9981eb785256e56000c1bf3/f7ffa31324a90c4b85256fcb006255d2/$FILE/P2202.pdf

It used to be easier to do this, but the Board has tightened the rules over the years.
