Default Falls Church Questions!

Hello,
Our daughter recently graduated from GMU and has accepted a position at INOVA. She and two friends are looking to rent a condo at The Regency on Spring Lane in Falls Church.

Does anyone know this complex? Is this area safe?

Any comments or advice is great appreciated!
Thank you!

Hi there--

I would never call this area unsafe, but at the same time it's not one of the nicest areas in Northern VA. The worst thing I would imagine happening to someone here would be theft, so no need to thing worse than something like that, but you are in a very, very crowded and congested part of Falls Church here. There is a high immigrant population as there are tons of low income apartments around. There are tons of chain restaurants, Circuit City, Best Buy and grocery stores around and it's pretty quick to get into DC. If I were her parent, I certainly would not lose sleep over her living here - it's just more the environment as I'd wonder how much she would be finding people like her around. The complex I believe is new so that's good I guess.

When you say Inova just FYI - that means a lot because they have like several hospitals around. I just assumed you mean their biggest one, Fairfax, which is a good 20 minute drive with no traffic. Inova Alexandria Hospital is much closer to this location at 10 minutes away.

Hope this info helps--I know my response sounds a bit wishy-washy. Bottom line I guess if it were me, I'd be looking in Fairfax, Vienna, Merrifield or Arlington or another part of Falls Church. Best of luck!

CasyMac,
Thank you for your quick and informative response!

She will be working at the Fairfax facility and was guessing a 30 minute commute.

I'll have her re-look in the Fairfax/Vienna area where she spent four great, safe years!

Thanks so much!

having grown up in the city of falls church i would opt for a place closer to work. not that baileys crossroads is the worst place but there are better. i moved away 3 years ago and felt that the area was kinda trashy. i would stay near GMU or fairfax so i could still goto bars and not have a crappy commute.
