Daycare is a tough one. No harm getting on a waitlist early, you can always drop off, but I think I'd wait until I knew where I was going to be living first.
...'The devil is in the details'.... I hope we will be able to figure this out in timely mannors with all of your support.

In our priorities , we will put safe area with great schools & daycare over any thing else. We can take smaller home/apartment with reasonable rent, and commute (ideally no longer than 30 minutes).

Based upon feedback above, we should focus on the following.

1 - Fanconia
2 - 22307
3 - West Springfield area

To be on the safe side, we would like to add at least 2 more areas in our search. Any further suggestions will be much appreciated.

Yes, Kingstowne (zip code 22315) before Franconia (22310), especially because of the year-round school schedule at Franconia Elementary. Also you can look into the SACC program (School Age Child Care), where you pay extra for children to stay at their school for after-school care, in addition to day care centers. (I don't know whether there are waiting lists for that.)

You should be able to find something in the Kingstowne area that meets all those needs. Like another poster said, maybe not in Kingstowne, but in that area (Island Creek, Hayfield etc) Keep your search below Franconia Springfield Road, and north of Telegraph. Looking on both sides of Beluah and Vandorn.

On the schools, Lane, Island Creek, and Hayfield all offer all day KG now. Starting this year for Hayfield. There are 3 decent daycares that provide transportation to/from to all three schools. The hardest to get transporation to is Franconica Elememtry (the modified schedule school) And one part of 22315 does feed into that, it is west of VanDorn and North of Kingstowne Parkway, just a small section, north of the Movie Theater. It is one of the newer sections, and the townhouses run a little more. The nearest Daycare doesn't provide transporation to the FE...don't know why. But the boundry section of the FC school site does a great job, better than realtors or even homeowners that don't have kids. So check all address online.

Here's the link slduvall referred to:

Fairfax County Public Schools Boundary Information

And that's interesting about the full-day kindergarten, I didn't know which schools have it now. The total is up to 70% of FCPS schools, I think. But nearly all of them still have the Monday early dismissal.
