One would really need to know the exact address on both ends of the commute to give more than a guess. There can be a huge variation in your drive time because of possible alternative routes. Having lived in Centreville since 1989, I should think 20-30 minutes is the worst case scenario.

I agree. It depends on exactly where to exactly where. I drive it every morning. I get off I-66 at HWY 28 northbound and get off at either Westfields or Willard at anytime between 6:30 am to 7:30 am. It's never taken me more than 5-10 minutes (worst case). Don't sweat it. It's not a big deal through there.

I live in NJ now, so I'm used to traffic. I've always manage to move as close as possible to my jobs.

I work 5 hours per day and only 4 days per week.

You commute 2.75 hours each way. And you only work 5 hours per day, 4 days a week. Just a guess, but -
Are you a VRE train conductor, VRE?

How much additional time does it take to get to Center Ridge in Centreville on a metrobus from Vienna than it takes to get to Faircrest (by Stringfellow)? I know you'd have to travel three miles or so more on 66, then about a mile on 28 to get to Center Ridge from Faircrest area. Any experienced commuters out there?

Depends on what traffic is like on 66, you're looking at an additional 10 maybe 15 minutes.

Try the backroads instead of 28

My question is how long would a Centreville to Chantilly commute be (via Rt. 28) during regular business hours. It's only 3.5 miles on the map, but I know that can be misleading in the DC/North VA area.
Any extra input on living in Centreville would be greatly appreciated.

There are lots of backroads you can take. I work in Chantilly and lived in Centreville up until June; my commute took me about 7 minutes!

I've been looking at maps and I think I could avoid 28 all together!

It really depends on where in Centreville. If you are on the Northern side, closest to Chantilly, it can take 10 minutes, especially if back roads are used. My husband has a 10 minute commute right now from C'ville to Chantilly. But if you are on the southern side and needs to cross Rt. 66 or Lee Hwy it can take longer.
