It will deoend on your location as to the trash companies that will service. In our area we have a substantial amount of companies to chose from. Call around and see who has the best rates. Also some will pick up anything no matter how large and others will charge extra.

They don't want to pick up garbage if the can is pointed the wrong way and only offered the price matching when I was in the process of cancelling - they were charging me 157 dollars a quarter... Now they have the gall to charge me a 35 dollar refurbishing fee for my can - LOL
There's a reason why bins need to face a certain way--automated pick up. That reduces crew requirements and your cost (at least in theory). I'm not questioning your other reasons for dissatisfaction, but I do wonder what is so difficult about facing the bin correctly?

Both companies sound like garbage to me.

I have had similar bad experiences with AAA. I often had to retrieve my trash can from down the street where they had dropped it. It took nearly 45 days to have them deliver my recycle bins. Additionally, after I had signed a contract with American at more than half the price, AAA's poor record keeping and even poorer customer service failed to cancel my service. My recommendation is to NOT CONTRACT WITH AAA!

Does Nightingale not operate elsewhere in the county but here in Mount Vernon? We've been with them for years. They only charge $78 per quarter for twice a week pickup plus recycling. They also take whatever you put out for them including mattresses and un cut up christmas trees.

darn it - well, we went with the company that the previous owners had because they had left their bins at the house. I didn't get charged for new ones and didn't have to pay any fee for not returning them (I'd gotten a nasty gram from AAA saying we owned them money since they hadn't taken care of this).

I hadn't even thought about trash service since our cluster had taken care of this for us in Reston. With us remodeling, we didn't have a lot of time to ask around about trash companies. We needed someone to come get our trash...and quickly.

I also became tired of AAA's constant price increases and surcharges. When I called AAA to cancel ,they offered to match ADS' price. This was in early January. But my next bill was not based on the new price. Seems they misplaced the new contract. They demanded I pay the erroneous rate and would credit me on the next bill. Lo and behold the credit on the bill for June through August was too low by half. I spent about 30 minutes on hold before getting through to customer service and correcting the error. The new contract also includes a stipulation that it is only valid for one year. If I had known how difficult they would make this I would have switched.
