I've been looking for online resources to find townhome rentals and can't find much except craigslist. Its' hard to separate townhome from apartment on their site. Is there a better place to look online?

Homesdatabase allows you to search rentals, but you'll only find the ones that have been listed as rentals by an agent through the MLS.

also try realtor.com they have a rental search option.. it also uses the mls and one thing about craigslist, you can always search keywords in their search box on the left of the page... you could type in townhome or something to that effect. Good luck!

do you have a realtor? The one I work does a lot of rentals and sometimes has knowledge about what is about to come on the market. Craigslist has a lot but you don't always get the info you need.

Good luck!

I don't have a realtor yet. I'm waiting to see where I find a job before settling on the exact location, but we know we want to rent for now.

If you get a good one having a realtor help you find a rental could be helpful because they know a lot about the area in which you are a stranger to. Unfortunatly the realtor my company put me up with was terrible and it seemed I knew more about the area than she did! Also she seemed to be more focused on a sale she was trying to make instead of helping me find a rental.. I rushed into something not only because I didnt have a lot of time but also because she made me feel rushed.. intirely my fault because I could have went on the search on my own. Just be sure you get a good realtor if you go with one... like I said they can be helpful! Good Luck!

We found a great TH last weekend using hotpads.com. If you go that route, make sure you click the link for the listing that takes you to the actual website that's hosting it, because homes on there usually go pretty fast. Long&Foster was the renting agency, you might want to try them. They seemed to have a lot of homes for rent in the area.

Don't rule out the rental section of washingtonpost.com.

try militarybyowner.com. they usually include pics, sq footage, schools, the only thing it won't give you the actual address just the town and zip code, just wanted to add, you will have to pick a state, then a military base, but it is not limited to military personnel only

also try birdseyesearch.com, someone on this board mentioned this one and it was pretty good
