I can't recommend a mechanic in the Alexandria or Wash DC markets - but I can offer my opinion on a dealer - Mini of Alexandria - just be ware that if you are negociating with thier sales dept - don't be surprised if they sell the car out from under you. This happened to me as I had already informed my salesperson of my intent to purchase the car and even though they did not request a deposit and the time between sending me an offer to accept - they sood the car out from under me - never contacting me about my interest, etc So I would NEVER deal with this dealership. They as much said that they don't want to work with internet sales . So anyone local - my recommendation is to stay away!!

A bad sales experience does not necessarily mean a bad service experience. I helped my son shop for a Mini 1 1/2 years ago when dealers couldn't keep them on the lot. I negotiated with dealerships from Tidewater to Philly via the internet and email, and there offers ranged widely. Our best deal--and experience--was with the Annapolis dealer. For service, however, convenience dictates staying closer to home. Mini dealers are not numerous, so now that the Landmark area dealership has opened, we prefer to go there than Sterling (where, by the way, we had a bad sales experience), as it is closer to Springfield. Thus far, my son has only needed checkups/oil changes, so we don't know how good they might be with major work. I know of no independent mechanics who have Mini expertise, but someone else might.
