Looking for an Affordable and caring vet in West Springfield/Burke area

But I also went to Parkway Vet and did not like it - ever since my dog (puppy at the time) had her nails clipped there she will not let anyone do it and now we have to have her slightly sedated before she gets her nails clipped. But - I was told later that some vets do that also - I dont know if it is a new thing or not but I like to be in the room to comfort my pets when they have procedures done to them.

Thanks for your assessment. Parkway is the 3rd vet I've ever used, and all 3 took my animal out of the room for procedures. I've always thought this was normal. I think it would be easier for an owner to keep their pet calm though during these (possibly traumatic) procedures.

My dog is almost 16 so I don't feel it's worth while at this point to find a new practice. However, if we get a new pet in the future I might shop around a bit more before settling on a doctor.

Well - in the Northern state I come from all the procedures were always done right in front of me - and I was involved in animal rescue for years so I took hundreds of dogs to the vet. Believe me - there are good vets and bad vets out there - just like people Doctors.
I think taking the animal out of the room might be a new thing.

Hello,

I am new to the area and looking for an affordable vet. I own two mutts; one of them has a re-occuring ear problem and allergy problems. We do visit the vet at least once a month.

Low price would be great but quality is important too.

I used to be very happy with Falls Church Animal Hospital, which is east of Tyson's on Rt. 7. However, this was 10+ years ago, so I don't know if they'd even have the same doctors.

I have learned to go to the cheap vets for shots and routine stuff and the good and expensive vets for serious conditions
