Default Dove hunting?

I'm looking for some good places to go dove hunting on opening day (Sept. 1). Does anyone know of any places to hunt? It seems like there might be some good fields out near Manassas, or down toward Woodbridge/Stafford.

I'm new to the area, and this is my first dove season in NOVA. I've checked the VA Dept. of Game and Fish's website, and they don't have very much info about places to hunt.

Any info is appreciated - THANKS!

I have had some good luck at C.F. Phelps in Remington ( Fauquier County) But go as early as you can. Season opens at 12 noon and the place fills up fast. There are some back fields with less people. I may go out there myself.

Default Amelia Wildlife and Dick Cross Wildlife Management areas...

are the 2 best public land facilities that I have ever been to. Excellent dove fields at both places and plenty of doves. Dick Cross is in South Hill Va. and Amelia is self explanatory. You can get driving directions to either one off of the Va. DGIF website. Unfortunately, as with any public land dove field, you have to get there a few hours early to claim a spot. Don't forget to get your HIP number before you go hunting for doves or any other Federal Migratory bird, including special early resident Goose season. Good luck my friend, and have a safe hunting season!! Lee Richmond, Va.
