What's the speed limit on the interstates and such? I'm just curious after coming across an old thread discussing speeding tickets and ppl saying you should never go over 75. The speed limit where I currently live is 75 on the high ways.

The official speed limit is 55. Most people dont do that here, most do 65-80. By popular opinion, most cops seem to look for speeds 66-70 and up on the interstates. Do not go over 75 on a Virginia highway. 80+ will get you a reckless driving charge and 90+ will get you jail time.

Each highway has its own speed limit. You need to pay attention to the signs. Some are 55, some are 65 and now, some are variable. The speed limits on 95 in Alexandria and the Wilson Bridge are now adjusted electronically depending on conditions. In this area, I haven't seen any speed limits higher than 65. Virginia says you are reckless at 80+ or 20 over the posted speed limit. So you could get a reckless for less than 55 - depending on what the electronic signs say the current speed limit is.
