Default Advice on 395

I have to head to the Hayfield area in Alexandria one morning next week from the Ballston area (Be there by 8am) and was wondering a couple things...1)Can I take 395 or should I find another way and would I be ok taking 395 back to Arlington around noon? and 2) How early should I leave to get there in the morning? Thanks!

395 in the mornings is jammed and you are talking prime-time rush...your afternoon commute I think would be okay. Morning commute - I think I would take Carlyn Springs, then cut into Alex. (depends on which end of Hayfield area) -maybe someone knows that area better?

395 South shouldn't be bad in the am rush....northbound is the mess. Noon should be okay in either direction.
